How school counselors can help
who sees the school counselor?
Everyone!
Monthly Lessons
All students participate in monthly lessons presented to each individual class. These lessons are focused on academic, career and personal/social objectives based upon the developmental level. Be on the lookout for materials that come home from these lessons and continue the conversation at home.
Small Group Counseling
Some students may be asked to join a small group to learn and develop targeted skills (i.e. coping strategies for students who are anxious / support and coping strategies for students of families in change / friendship skills for those working to make stronger social connections / study and organization skills for students who need academic support).
New Students
New students to the school are invited to lunch bunches to ease into a new environment and encourage social connections with peers.
PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)
Students who show school-wide positive behavior can earn lunch bunches throughout the year to celebrate their success!
Individual Counseling
Students are also given the opportunity to speak with a counselor privately about feelings, concerns or news they would like to share.
